Full of history and
tradition, Big Hollow
School District has been
teaching the
children of Ingleside, Fox Lake, Round
Lake,
Volo, Lakemoor, McHenry an
unincorporated
Lake County since 1836. As the
oldest school
district operating this long, they
have
successfully focused on the fundamentals
of
learning while adapting to the best
practices
developed over the past century.
Although
time has changed since the days of a
one
room school house, where teachers
were
paid in meat and produce, the small
town
friendliness of Big Hollow School
District
remains.
The communities that make up Big Hollow
School
District have grown considerably and
in recent years
it has been the fastest growing
district in Lake
County. To accommodate the
huge gains in
population, all three of the
schools are now located
on 62 acres giving
parents a convenient location for
all of their
children to learn while providing
the
community with public facilities to utilize
in
off-hours.
Their mission is
simple: Big Hollow School
District will foster
excellence in education so
that its students will
reach their full potential in
an ever-changing
society. This philosophy of
improving our
future has existed for many
years and continues to
this day. |
